HISTORY OF wonder ballroom - A Century of Stories
Built in 1914 as Hibernian Hall, the building now known as Wonder Ballroom has been a Portland gathering place for more than a century. Originally home to the Ancient Order of Hibernians, it later served as a Catholic youth center, boxing school, American Legion post, and community center known as the Collins Center.
After sitting vacant for several years, the historic building was purchased in 2004 and transformed into Wonder Ballroom, opening a new chapter as one of Portland’s beloved music and event venues.
In 2005, the building was added to the National Register of Historic Places for its historic and architectural significance.
Today, its century-old walls continue to bring people together—this time through music, celebration, and unforgettable nights.
